Cardi B has returned to court seeking sanctions against blogger Tasha K, alleging that she repeatedly violated the terms of a settlement agreement and that her legal team submitted fabricated case citations in their response filings. The new motion, filed in early May and reviewed by entertainment media, adds a significant new dimension to a legal dispute that has been playing out for years.

The case has its roots in a 2022 defamation judgment in which Tasha K was ordered to pay Cardi B nearly four million dollars. Cardi subsequently agreed to pause collection of that judgment on the condition that the blogger comply with a non-disparagement clause prohibiting her from making negative statements about Cardi, her family, or anyone connected to her, either directly or through coded or indirect references.

The Offset gambling comments that triggered the filing

The current motion centers on a recent livestream in which Tasha K discussed Offset, Cardi’s estranged husband, and made comments about his alleged gambling habits. According to the court filing, Tasha suggested that Offset had a serious and ongoing gambling problem and implied it played a role in the breakdown of his relationship with Cardi.

Cardi’s legal team argues that these comments constitute an indirect violation of the non-disparagement clause because they concern a direct family member and were clearly designed to cast her in a negative light by association. The filing contends that Tasha has repeatedly exploited loopholes and technicalities to continue producing content about Cardi and her family while technically avoiding using her name.

A pattern of alleged bad faith

Beyond the specific livestream, Cardi’s filing paints a broader picture of what her attorneys describe as ongoing bad faith. She alleges that Tasha falsely represented to the court that her bankruptcy plan payments were current when they were in fact late, and that a required quarterly operating report was not submitted on time.

Cardi’s team also points to a public statement Tasha made to her audience claiming she is not bound by any non-disclosure agreement, which they argue reflects a fundamental unwillingness to honor the terms she voluntarily accepted.

Tasha had previously argued that the non-disparagement clause infringes on her First Amendment rights and restricts free speech. She also contended that her practice of removing posts after receiving warnings demonstrates a good-faith effort to comply. Cardi’s attorneys push back on both points, arguing that the clause represents the enforcement of a private agreement entered into voluntarily rather than a government restriction on speech, and that deleting content after it has already been viewed and monetized does not undo the violation or eliminate the benefit Tasha received from it.

Fabricated case citations become a central issue

One of the most striking elements of the filing involves Cardi’s accusations regarding Tasha’s legal submissions. Her attorneys allege that filings submitted on Tasha’s behalf included a completely fabricated case citation as well as a misrepresented quote attributed to a real legal decision.

Cardi’s legal team argues that the submission of invented case law undermines the integrity of the judicial process and raises serious questions about the standards being applied by Tasha’s counsel. The filing stops short of definitively accusing the attorneys of using artificial intelligence tools without adequate verification but raises the possibility directly, alongside other potential explanations for how fictitious citations ended up in official court documents.

What Cardi is asking the court to do

Cardi’s legal team has asked the court to order the deletion of all content that violates the agreement, schedule a hearing to award attorney’s fees, establish monetary sanctions for any future violations, and issue formal sanctions against Tasha K and her legal counsel for the submission of fabricated citations.

The outcome of the motion will depend on how the court assesses both the scope of the non-disparagement agreement and the seriousness of the citation issues, but the filing makes clear that Cardi has no intention of letting either matter go unaddressed.
