Kanye West and Travis Scott are cooking up something big

A hip-hop heavyweight drops a major hint that Ye and La Flame have a joint album in the works — and it might already be further along than fans think.

Kanye West and Travis Scott may be giving fans exactly what they have been waiting for. Word is quietly spreading through hip-hop circles that the two rap titans are deep into building a collaborative project together, and the tip is coming from a credible source with firsthand knowledge.

Havoc Lets the Secret Slip

Mobb Deep legend Havoc was sitting down with Complex to reflect on the 10th anniversary of Ye’s landmark record The Life of Pablo when he inadvertently opened a door he probably should have kept shut. While discussing his ongoing creative relationship with the Chicago rap icon, Havoc revealed he has been in the studio recently — and the session was not a solo venture.

He’s working on a project, I believe, with Travis Scott, Havoc shared, before quickly catching himself and adding that he did not want to spoil anything if the project never officially surfaces.

But there was more. Havoc did not just confirm the collaboration — he strongly hinted at his own involvement, saying that several of his tracks have already made the cut for the project. Given his track record working alongside Ye on fan favorites like Real Friends, Famous, and Vultures (Havoc Version), his fingerprints on a Kanye-Travis record would be a welcome addition for longtime listeners.

A Friendship That Almost Did Not Survive

The prospect of a joint Kanye and Travis album is especially striking given where their relationship stood just over a year ago. In early 2025, Ye launched a very public and very chaotic social media offensive that included pointed shots at the Astroworld hitmaker. It felt, at the time, like a friendship fractured beyond repair.

But hip-hop reconciliations have a way of moving fast. By October 2025, Travis Scott was onstage in Sydney, Australia, delivering what sounded less like a shoutout and more like a setup. He told the crowd that he and his brother Ye might have to do something special together — and the energy in the room made it clear he meant it.

Weeks later, the reunion became undeniable. Travis brought Kanye out as a surprise guest at his Tokyo concert, and the two ran through a string of classics together, including Can’t Tell Me Nothing, Runaway, and Carnival. The crowd lost it. The internet followed shortly after.

Kanye’s Solo Return Is Already On the Horizon

While the joint project remains unconfirmed, Kanye’s solo return is far less speculative. His 12th studio album, Bully, is reportedly set to drop on March 30 — a release that would mark his first solo effort since Vultures 2, the second collaborative LP with Ty Dolla $ign that he wrapped up in 2024.

Bully is expected to arrive under a new deal with Gamma, the music media company founded by former Apple executive Larry Jackson. The album has faced its share of delays, but a spring release date now appears to be locked in.

What a Joint Album Could Mean for Hip-Hop

If the Kanye and Travis collaboration does materialize, it would represent one of the most anticipated hip-hop releases in recent memory. Both artists sit at the highest levels of the genre — Ye as a generational architect, Travis as the undisputed king of sonic spectacle. Together, they have already proven chemistry on tracks over the years, but a full-length project would be uncharted territory.

With Havoc potentially on production duties and Kanye’s creative momentum building toward the Bully rollout, the pieces seem to be falling into place. Whether the album surfaces this year or quietly disappears into the vault remains to be seen — but the fact that it exists at all is already a headline.

Hip-hop fans would be wise to pay attention.
