Cardi B tells Boston crowd to leave BIA alone online

The rapper performed her BIA diss track at her Boston tour stop, then turned to the crowd and told fans to leave BIA alone on social media, a distinction that caught many off guard.

Cardi B performed her diss track aimed at fellow rapper BIA in front of a packed Boston crowd on April 2, then stopped to tell the audience something that did not quite fit the moment: leave BIA alone online.

The request came mid-concert during the Boston stop of her ‘Little Miss Drama’ tour, where Cardi performed ‘Pretty & Petty,’ the track widely understood to be directed at BIA. After the song, she addressed the crowd directly, making clear that whatever exists between her and BIA belongs on wax, not in the comment sections of social media. She told fans the bullying was something she did not want any part of, and that her issues with BIA were hers to handle personally if it ever came to that.

The moment landed differently than the rest of the night. Cardi had just performed a song designed to land blows on a specific target, then stepped back and defended that same target from her own fan base.

Boston gives Cardi B her own day

The concert took place in BIA’s home city, a detail that made the evening more layered than a typical tour stop. BIA, who was born and raised in Boston, has strong ties to the local community. Cardi performing a diss track aimed at her in that specific city was not a subtle choice.

The city’s response was unexpected. Boston City Councilor Julia Mejia attended the concert and presented Cardi with an official proclamation declaring April 2 as Cardi B Day in Boston. Mejia praised Cardi’s ability to move through the world on her own terms while still connecting with communities across backgrounds and experiences.

The proclamation drew attention on social media, with some fans noting the irony of a city honoring an artist who had just spent part of her set going after one of its own.

The feud and what started it

The rivalry between Cardi B and BIA traces back to 2024, when BIA made public comments about Cardi’s children and personal life. Cardi did not respond publicly at the time. ‘Pretty & Petty’ represented her formal entry into the dispute, and the Boston concert was among the first major live settings where she performed it in front of a large crowd.

During the show, Cardi also initiated what she framed as a lighthearted challenge, asking the audience to name five BIA songs. The moment played as competitive but stopped short of mean-spirited, consistent with the line she was trying to draw throughout the night between the music and what happens after it on phones and laptops.

The feud sits within a broader pattern in hip-hop where disputes between artists generate fan-driven pile-ons that the artists themselves did not necessarily invite. The rapper’s decision to address that dynamic directly from the stage, in the middle of a tour built around the conflict, was the part of the evening that most people were still talking about the next day.
