Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and his fiancée, Sarah Jane Ramos, have ended their engagement, according to multiple reports. The split came approximately one month before the couple was scheduled to marry in Italy on April 10. Ramos called off the relationship after a significant argument during their joint bachelor and bachelorette parties in the Bahamas, an event that sources described as the breaking point in a relationship that had been under strain for several months.
The couple’s social media presence told a different story just days before the news broke. Ramos had posted photos from her bachelorette party and written that she could not wait to marry the love of her life at their destination wedding. Those posts were deleted after the split became public.
The timeline of the relationship and how it developed
Prescott and Ramos went public with their relationship in 2023. In October 2024, Prescott proposed with a 10-carat emerald-cut engagement ring from Jason of Beverly Hills. The proposal came less than two months after Prescott signed a four-year, $240 million contract extension with the Cowboys. The couple share two children, ages 2 and 10 months respectively, and plan to co-parent moving forward. Sources described the relationship as beyond repair.
What this means for Prescott heading into the 2026 season
The personal news arrives during an already complicated offseason for Prescott and the Cowboys. Dallas finished 7 and 9 in 2025, missing the playoffs for the second consecutive season. Prescott dealt with an injury midway through the 2024 campaign and spent the following season working his way back while the team underperformed around him.
The Cowboys enter the offseason as one of the more active teams in the league. Owner and general manager Jerry Jones has said publicly that he expects the franchise to be aggressive in free agency and on the trade market. Dallas restructured Prescott’s contract alongside guard Tyler Smith earlier this offseason to create roughly $47 million in salary cap space heading into the new league year, which opens March 11.
The Cowboys missed out on acquiring defensive end Maxx Crosby from the Las Vegas Raiders, unwilling to match the two first-round picks the Baltimore Ravens ultimately surrendered to land the five-time Pro Bowler. Dallas did use the franchise tag on wide receiver George Pickens and made a decision on kicker Brandon Aubrey ahead of free agency.
Prescott will be under pressure to return the Cowboys to playoff contention in 2026 after the Philadelphia Eagles captured the NFC East for the second consecutive season. The Cowboys have not reached the postseason since the 2023 campaign.
