Dwayne Johnson showed up to Kevin Hart’s roast and immediately targeted his wife

Dwayne Johnson does not do anything halfway, and his appearance at Kevin Hart’s Netflix roast on May 10 was no exception. The two longtime friends and frequent co-stars reunited at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles for an evening that gave Hart exactly what he signed up for and possibly a little more than he bargained for.

Johnson’s entrance set the tone immediately. He arrived to a theatrical production complete with special effects and an arena-filling soundtrack, making clear before he ever reached the microphone that this was going to be a performance rather than simply a cameo. The crowd’s response suggested the room was entirely on board.

A set built for maximum impact

Once on stage, Johnson moved quickly through his material with the confidence of someone who had been looking forward to this specific opportunity for quite some time. He made it immediately clear that his presence was not about doing Hart any favors, framing their dynamic with the kind of affectionate brutality that has defined their public friendship for years.

Much of Johnson’s set circled back to Hart’s wife, Eniko, who was seated in the audience. Johnson directed attention her way repeatedly throughout his appearance, offering her compliments that functioned as setups and landing each one at Hart’s expense. The implication running through the bit was that Eniko’s patience and commitment represented a level of dedication deserving of formal recognition.

Hart’s reactions from his seat were audible throughout, ranging from visible discomfort to outright protest, which Johnson acknowledged with cheerful indifference each time. The back and forth between the two gave the set an energy that felt genuinely spontaneous even within a scripted roast format.

A friendship that survives everything

Johnson wrapped his appearance with a declaration of affection for Hart that was immediately undercut by one final joke, the kind of closing move that lands best when delivered by someone who has clearly thought about it for longer than they are willing to admit. He then confirmed that Hart had given full permission for the evening’s content, a point Hart was not entirely prepared to concede publicly.

The two have built one of the more durable and genuinely entertaining public friendships in entertainment, having appeared together in multiple major films including two entries in the Jumanji franchise and the action comedy Central Intelligence. They are set to reunite on screen again later this year for what has been billed as the third and final installment in the Jumanji series.

A roast stacked with star power

Johnson was one of several high-profile guests at the evening’s event. The roast also featured appearances from Venus and Serena Williams, Lizzo, and Tom Brady, alongside a roster of comedians and entertainers including Pete Davidson, Tiffany Haddish, Draymond Green, Regina Hall, and others. The evening was hosted by Shane Gillis and took place as the closing event of the Netflix Is a Joke festival.

For a night built around public humiliation between people who genuinely like each other, the roast delivered on every front. Johnson’s contribution in particular reminded a packed arena and a streaming audience why he and Hart together have always been more than the sum of their individual parts.
