Eduardo Camavinga wants out of Real Madrid this summer

Two of England's biggest clubs are circling — and a bargain price tag could make this the deal of the summer

One of Europe’s most coveted midfielders is quietly becoming one of the summer’s hottest transfer targets. Eduardo Camavinga, the 23-year-old French international, is edging closer to an exit from Real Madrid — and Manchester City and Liverpool are both firmly in the race to land him.

Real Madrid are prepared to let Camavinga leave this summer, with the Spanish giants setting a price of around €50 million— a figure that, given his age, pedigree, and potential, represents remarkable value in today’s transfer market.

A Bernabéu Exit Looks Increasingly Likely

Camavinga signed for Real Madrid in 2021 for a fee of €31 million and helped the club win two La Liga and Champions League doubles in 2022 and 2024. But despite those triumphs, his position at the club has grown increasingly uncertain. He has made just 12 starts in La Liga this season, and with Madrid actively pursuing new midfield talent, the door to a summer exit has swung wide open.

Trusted transfer journalist Matteo Moretto confirmed Camavinga is no longer untouchable at the Bernabéu, with Premier League clubs already registering serious interest and Madrid unwilling to accept anything below €50 million — a price that looks like a bargain given his profile. For a player of his age, versatility, and trophy-winning experience, that fee is expected to attract serious bids well before the summer window officially opens.

Camavinga and the Premier League Pull

Both City and Liverpool represent genuinely compelling destinations for a player at a crossroads. Pep Guardiola, entering the final stretch of his City tenure, is desperate to rebuild a midfield that has lost its bite. Bernardo Silva’s expected departure at the end of the season leaves a significant void — one that a dynamic, left-footed operator like Camavinga could fill immediately.

Man City’s midfield deficiencies were exposed in their 3-0 defeat to Real Madrid in their Champions League last 16 clash, making the need for reinforcements all the more urgent heading into the summer.

Liverpool’s interest runs even deeper. The Reds’ admiration for Camavinga dates back to his Rennes days, and multiple sources have since confirmed that Liverpool remain long-term admirers of the Frenchman.

Why Camavinga Is the Perfect Camavinga Fit for Anfield

Camavinga’s physicality and technical profile are considered a strong match for the demands of Premier League football, and his versatility — capable of operating as a central midfielder, defensive midfielder, or emergency left-back — only adds to his appeal for Arne Slot’s system.

His ability to function as a No. 6, a progressive passer, and a backup left-back effectively offers three world-class options in one signing at a fraction of his true market value. A potential swap involving Alexis Mac Allister has also been floated, with Real Madrid reportedly identifying the Argentine as a target to add depth and experience in midfield.

A Star Shaped by Sacrifice

Beyond the transfer intrigue lies one of football’s most remarkable personal stories. Born in Angola to Congolese refugees, Camavinga moved to France as a young child and joined Rennes’ youth academy at the age of 11. He made his professional debut at 16, becoming the youngest player to register an assist in Ligue 1 history. He also became France’s youngest senior international in over a century when he debuted for Les Bleus in 2020, and was part of the squad that reached the 2022 World Cup final before falling to Argentina.

With the 2026 World Cup in North America now just months away, Camavinga has every incentive to secure a move that guarantees regular first-team football. A player of his caliber cannot afford another season on the fringes — and both City and Liverpool know it. Whoever wins the race for his signature will not only be landing one of Europe’s most complete midfielders, but also a player with a burning point to prove on the biggest stages the game has to offer.
