Hill gives fans a reason for cautious optimism

Free agent wide receiver Tyreek Hill says he still lacks full strength in his surgically repaired left leg, a sign that his path back to the NFL may take longer than some fans had hoped.

Hill shared a video this week showing himself working through a training session while discussing the injury that ended his season early last year, a dislocated knee accompanied by multiple torn ligaments suffered during a Week 4 matchup. He explained that roughly ten months have passed since he underwent two separate surgeries to repair the damage, and that regaining strength in the affected leg remains an ongoing daily process.

Hill details how serious the injury really was

According to Hill, doctors initially told him there was a chance he might never walk normally again following the injury. Ten months removed from surgery, he says he now feels considerably better, though full power in the leg has not yet returned. In the video, he could be seen performing a range of exercises, including brief running drills that he acknowledged were technically ahead of his approved recovery timeline, joking that he enjoys pushing himself a little further than instructed.

That mix of caution and determination has defined much of his recovery so far, as he balances medical guidance with his own competitive instincts.

Hill’s free agency status remains unresolved

The wide receiver became a free agent for the first time in his decade long career after his release earlier this year, ending a run that included eight trips to the Pro Bowl. At the time of his release, Hill publicly vowed that his on field persona would return, and his latest update suggests he remains optimistic about eventually getting back onto an NFL roster.

He stopped short of offering any specific timeline for a potential return, keeping details about his recovery progress relatively vague. Still, his tone throughout the video suggested confidence about where things currently stand, even without committing to an exact date.

What comes next for Hill

For now, Hill appears focused on the slow, methodical work required to regain full strength rather than rushing back before his body is ready. Multiple ligament tears combined with a dislocated joint represent a significant injury for any athlete, let alone one who has built a career around explosive speed and quick direction changes.

Whether Hill ultimately returns to game action this season or waits longer likely depends on how his leg continues responding to rehabilitation in the coming months. His public updates, however, suggest a player determined to prove doubters wrong, even if the exact circumstances of his return remain uncertain for now.
