On Friday, May 1, North West released N0rth4evr, her debut six-track EP, at 12 years old. To mark the release, she hosted a pop-up at Complex LA’s Fairfax location in Los Angeles, where her father arrived unannounced to join the celebration. The crowd responded immediately.

Both North and Kanye signed merchandise and took photos with fans throughout the afternoon. The pop-up featured vinyl editions of N0rth4evr, limited-edition merchandise created for the release, immersive visuals and an ice cream stand. Bianca Censori, West’s wife and North’s stepmother, was also present. The second day of the pop-up runs today, May 2, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the same Fairfax location.

North’s merchandise is available in-store, while albums from West’s catalog, including his recent LP Bully, are available through the Complex Shop web store in vinyl, CD and cassette formats.

North’s next move is a solo festival set

North is not new to performing in front of large crowds. She appeared alongside her father during his SoFi Stadium shows in Los Angeles last month, but her next performance will be her first as a solo act. She is scheduled to take the stage at Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash festival in June at Seatgeek Stadium in Illinois, where she is expected to perform material from N0rth4evr. Illinois is her father’s home state.

North is the eldest of West’s four children with Kim Kardashian. The couple also share Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, who turns 7 this month.

West’s European tour has been collapsing in real time

While the Los Angeles weekend was celebratory, the wider picture for West in 2026 is considerably more complicated. Within 24 hours of the Fairfax pop-up, Albania’s Culture Minister Blendi Gonxhe confirmed to AFP that West is booked to perform in Tirana in July. The minister framed the date as part of Albania’s broader effort to position itself as a destination for major cultural events. A specific date and formal confirmation from West’s team had not been released at the time of the announcement.

The Albania booking arrived against a backdrop of significant European resistance. West had been scheduled to headline Wireless Festival across three nights in July at Finsbury Park in London, which would have marked his first UK performance in more than a decade. He was banned from entering the country before those shows could take place.

A June 11 concert in Marseille, France at Stade Vélodrome was postponed by West amid a possible ban there as well. A June 19 date in Poland was subsequently cancelled. Poland’s culture minister stated publicly that West’s conduct was incompatible with the country’s values.

The controversy behind the West cancellations

The wave of European bans traces directly to a pattern of antisemitic remarks West made publicly, including a 2022 social media post that threatened Jewish people and drew widespread condemnation from across the entertainment industry and beyond.

West has since issued an apology. He has stated that his goal is to use his music to promote unity and peace, and he has expressed willingness to meet with members of the Jewish community in the UK. Whether those gestures translate into restored access to European venues remains to be seen. The Albania date is the only confirmed booking on the continent as of this weekend.

The juxtaposition of the two stories, a father cheering on his daughter’s first solo project and a performer locked out of most of Europe, captures where West stands heading into the summer of 2026. Both things are true at the same time.
