Minaj posted an extended message on X predicting that Fauci would eventually lose his ability to speak and require a feeding tube, saying only then would he understand the suffering she believes he caused during the COVID-19 pandemic.

She pointed to newborns, schoolchildren, pregnant women barred from delivery rooms, and elderly patients who died alone, along with what she described as lost trust in government and taxpayer money she said went to bad actors. She closed the post on a softer note, saying she had struggled to find humor in the situation and offering blessings to those who made it through the pandemic. Alongside the message, she shared an apparently AI-generated image depicting Fauci writing in a diary, a reference to his pandemic-era journal entries.

Did Minaj also release a parody video

Yes. In a separate video posted the same day, Minaj impersonated Fauci writing in a diary, mixing exaggerated jokes about his public image with pointed criticism of his pandemic leadership, including references to school closures and isolated elderly patients.

What prompted this latest round of criticism

The posts came two days after Fauci testified before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, where he invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination more than 100 times. Fauci said in his opening statement that he believed the committee chairman was determined to build a criminal case against him and that he was declining to answer on his attorneys’ advice.

Why couldn’t Fauci simply answer the questions

Committee Chairman Rand Paul has argued Fauci should not be able to invoke the Fifth Amendment because former President Biden granted him a broad pardon before leaving office, covering potential federal offenses between 2014 and the pardon’s issuance. That protection does not extend to conduct after that date, including anything related to his 2026 testimony.

Legal experts note that courts have not settled whether someone who received a pardon can still invoke the Fifth Amendment regarding conduct the pardon covers, a question that could become significant if lawmakers pursue a contempt case. Fauci’s attorney has called the proceeding politically motivated, while Democratic senators described the hearing as an attempt to entrap him; Republicans on the committee have accused Fauci of misleading Congress and the public.

What do Fauci’s released diaries actually show

Paul released more than 1,000 pages of Fauci’s pandemic-era journal entries ahead of the hearing, arguing they reveal a gap between Fauci’s private views and public statements, particularly around the virus’s origins. A review by the Associated Press found that several topics highlighted by critics, including early uncertainty about how the virus emerged, were also addressed in Fauci’s public comments and 2024 memoir.

A separate fact-check found that one frequently cited entry, in which Fauci wrote the Wuhan market likely wasn’t the original source while noting the virus jumped from animals to humans, was consistent with his public statements around the same time rather than contradicting them. The precise origin of the virus remains scientifically unresolved, with assessments differing over whether animal transmission or a lab-related incident is more likely.

Is this the first clash between Minaj and Fauci

No. Their public dispute dates back to September 2021, when Minaj shared an unverified claim that a cousin’s friend in Trinidad became impotent after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. Fauci responded on CNN that no evidence supported the claim and urged Minaj to reconsider sharing unverified medical information with her large following.

Trinidad and Tobago’s health minister said officials investigated the claim and found no matching case, calling it false. Current CDC guidance states COVID-19 vaccines are not associated with fertility problems in women or men, and large studies involving pregnant women have not found increased risks of miscarriage, stillbirth, birth defects or premature delivery linked to vaccination.

How have people reacted to Minaj’s latest comments

Reaction has split sharply. Some supporters praised her for speaking out, including public figures who described her as willing to say what others won’t. Critics argued she lacks the scientific background to weigh in credibly on public health matters and pointed to her history of sharing unverified claims. The exchange reflects a broader divide that has persisted since their first public disagreement in 2021.

What happens next

Paul has said the committee will vote on whether to hold Fauci in contempt, though any criminal referral would still require further congressional action, Justice Department review, and approval from a federal grand jury. As of Minaj’s latest posts, no criminal charge had been filed against Fauci.
