One of the NFL’s most exciting young running backs is dealing with a health scare that has kept him off the field. In a heartfelt message to fans, the young running back shared what he has been going through, offering hope while acknowledging that doctors still have no explanation.

New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson said Friday, Nov. 6, 2026, that he recently experienced an unexpected and unusual medical emergency involving a series of unexplained neurological symptoms.

What did TreVeyon Henderson say about his health?

In a statement on social media, Henderson said tests have come back positive and reassuring, but that the cause remains unknown. He described the cause as unexplainable, leaving open questions about what happened.

He said the symptoms have affected his strength, coordination and some physical functions, and that he will keep working with specialists and physical therapists on his recovery. Physical therapy can help patients rebuild strength and coordination after a neurological episode.

Henderson said he is committed to returning to full health and that his health and future are his top priorities.

Neither TreVeyon Henderson nor the Patriots have shared further details. The team has respected his privacy as he works through his recovery.

How has TreVeyon Henderson been sidelined?

Henderson, 24, missed the Patriots’ win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. New England has leaned on other running backs in his absence.

After New England’s loss to the Chicago Bears on Oct. 22, he took part in two practices before appearing on the injury report with an illness on Oct. 29. He has not practiced since. The illness designation gave little indication of how serious his condition was.

The team has not said when he might return. The Patriots face the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

Who has supported Henderson?

Henderson thanked his wife, family and loved ones, the Patriots, his agent, his medical team, his teammates and everyone who has offered prayers, encouragement and support. He made a point of thanking the organization for standing by him.

His message struck a hopeful tone despite the uncertainty. Fans have long admired his work ethic and humble approach.

How has TreVeyon Henderson played?

In six games this season, Henderson has run for 203 yards on 52 carries, an average of 3.9 yards per carry, with one touchdown. He has also caught five passes for 45 yards. His numbers had dipped from his rookie season before the health issue arose.

The Patriots drafted TreVeyon Henderson in the second round in 2025 out of Ohio State. As a rookie, he played in every game of the regular season and ran for 911 yards and nine touchdowns on 180 carries, averaging 5.1 yards per carry.

He added 35 catches for 221 yards and a touchdown, showing the speed and versatility that made him a standout in college. He quickly became one of the most promising young backs in the league.

At Ohio State, he helped the Buckeyes win the national championship after the 2024 season. He was known in Columbus for his explosive runs and toughness.

What comes next for TreVeyon Henderson?

Henderson’s focus is on his recovery, and there is no timetable for his return to football. His statement made clear that his health comes before football.

Neurological symptoms can have many causes, and doctors often run a range of tests to rule out serious conditions. Experts caution against speculating about a specific diagnosis.

For TreVeyon Henderson, the priority is getting healthy, with the support of a team and community rallying behind him. Fans across the league will be hoping for good news in the weeks ahead.
