A MacBook Pro for under $400 is not something that shows up often, and when it does, the instinct is to look for the catch. In this case, there is not much of one.

The Apple MacBook Pro is currently listed at $394.97, down from its original retail price of $1,799. That works out to a discount of more than 78% on a machine that spent years positioned as a premium purchase for professionals and creative workers. The offer runs through June 14, with stock listed as limited.

What the MacBook Pro is actually running

The unit is a Grade A refurbished MacBook Pro, which means it has been inspected and certified to near-mint physical condition. Wear is minimal to nonexistent. The Grade A classification is not a marketing softener. At this tier, Apple hardware performs on par with new units. The difference is cosmetic proximity to factory condition, not anything that affects how the machine actually runs.

The processor is a 10th Gen Intel Core i5 clocked at 2GHz, with a turbo boost ceiling of 3.8GHz. That is a configuration that handles multitasking, creative work, and professional software without bottlenecking. Storage is 512GB via solid-state drive, which covers the average user’s files, applications, and media without needing an external drive for overflow.

The MacBook Pro display and keyboard

The 13.3-inch Retina display delivers sharp resolution and accurate color reproduction. True Tone technology reads the ambient light in a room and adjusts the screen’s color temperature accordingly, which reduces eye strain over long work sessions in a way that becomes noticeable quickly.

The keyboard is a Magic Keyboard with a Touch Bar, a narrow interactive strip above the function keys that changes its shortcuts based on whichever application is open. Touch ID is built directly into the keyboard, handling fingerprint login and authentication without an extra step in the process.

Connectivity and battery life on the MacBook Pro

The machine ships with four Thunderbolt 3 ports, each capable of handling data transfer, video output, and charging at the same time. For anyone running an external monitor, a storage drive, or multiple peripherals, the single-cable-type configuration keeps the desk clean without sacrificing function. Battery life is rated at up to 10 hours per charge, which covers most full workdays without a power outlet nearby.

Who this deal is actually for

At $1,799, the MacBook Pro was a deliberate investment. It served designers, developers, writers, and students who needed a machine that could keep pace with demanding workflows and fit cleanly into the Apple ecosystem. The price kept it out of reach for a lot of buyers who wanted the performance but could not justify the cost.

At $394.97, that calculus changes. The machine becomes a reasonable option for recent graduates moving into the workforce, freelancers building out a mobile setup, or anyone coming off an older computer who wants a meaningful upgrade without paying for a brand-new unit. Grade A refurbished hardware at this level has a consistent track record, and the specs here are not a stripped-down version of the MacBook Pro experience. They are the real thing at a fraction of the original price.

The offer is live through June 14, but refurbished inventory at this price point rarely survives until a stated deadline. Stock depletes, and pricing on these units can shift before the end date arrives. The window is real, and it is open now.
