Zaire Wade, the eldest son of NBA Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade, was arrested in Burbank, Calif., on suspicion of felony domestic violence following an early morning incident that remains under investigation.

According to the Burbank Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call at about 5:30 a.m. on June 21 after receiving reports of a woman screaming inside a residence. When officers arrived, they encountered Wade and a woman who allegedly had visible injuries, including cuts to her face and body.

Emergency medical personnel also responded to the home, though authorities said the woman did not require transportation to a hospital for treatment.

Following the investigation at the scene, Wade was taken into custody and booked into the Burbank City Jail.

Authorities are investigating multiple allegations

In addition to the domestic violence allegation, investigators booked Wade on suspicion of criminal threats and false imprisonment.

Police also recovered a handgun from the residence during the investigation. Authorities have not publicly indicated whether the firearm is connected to any potential criminal charges.

According to jail records, Wade later posted a $50,000 bond and was released the same day pending further legal proceedings.

The case has not yet resulted in formal criminal charges. Investigators are expected to submit their findings to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, which will determine whether prosecutors move forward with charges.

Questions remain as the investigation continues

Court records indicate investigators are examining several allegations connected to the incident.

  1. Suspicion of felony domestic violence.
  2. Suspicion of making criminal threats.
  3. Suspicion of false imprisonment involving violence, fraud or deceit.

Some reports referencing the police incident noted attempted murder in an incident summary. However, that allegation did not appear among Wade’s official booking charges.

Authorities have not publicly explained the discrepancy, and no attempted murder charge has been announced by prosecutors.

As with any criminal investigation, an arrest does not constitute a conviction. Wade is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

Wade has built a professional basketball career

Before the arrest, Wade was primarily known for his basketball career and his connection to one of the NBA’s most recognizable families.

The 24 year old played high school basketball at Sierra Canyon School in Southern California, where he shared the court with Bronny James, the eldest son of NBA superstar LeBron James.

Rather than pursuing college basketball, Wade entered the professional ranks.

He spent time with the Salt Lake City Stars in the NBA G League, where he averaged 4.6 points and 1.9 assists per game. He later continued his career overseas after signing with the Cape Town Tigers in the Basketball Africa League.

Throughout his basketball journey, Wade has frequently attracted public attention because of his famous father while working to establish his own career.

Public attention grows around the case

The arrest has generated significant public interest due to Wade’s family name and his own profile as a professional athlete.

Domestic violence allegations involving public figures often draw widespread attention while legal proceedings unfold. Advocacy groups continue to stress the importance of allowing investigations to proceed while also recognizing the serious nature of domestic violence allegations.

At this stage, investigators have released only limited information about the incident, and many details surrounding what occurred inside the residence remain unclear.

Neither Wade nor members of his family have publicly commented on the arrest.

What happens next

The next phase of the case will depend on the review conducted by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors will evaluate evidence collected by investigators, including witness statements, physical evidence and police reports, before deciding whether to file formal criminal charges.

If charges are filed, Wade would then make an initial court appearance where the allegations would be formally presented.

Until prosecutors announce their decision, the investigation remains active.

The case serves as a reminder that arrests represent the beginning of the legal process rather than its conclusion. While authorities continue gathering evidence, Wade remains presumed innocent under the law unless the allegations are proven beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
