A thoughtful holiday gesture appears to be putting any lingering questions about the relationship between Kris Jenner and Meghan Markle firmly to rest.
On Wednesday, May 6, the Kardashian Jenner matriarch took to Instagram Stories to share a look at a Mother’s Day package she received from the Duchess of Sussex, courtesy of Meghan’s lifestyle brand As Ever. The post made clear that the two women remain on warm, friendly terms and Jenner wanted the world to know it.
A gift with personal meaning
The package Jenner received included three thoughtful items. The first were scented candles from the As Ever collection, which Jenner described as smelling wonderful. The second and third items rounded out the set: chocolates produced through As Ever’s collaboration with Los Angeles based chocolatier Compartes, and a handwritten Mother’s Day card addressed personally to Jenner.
What made the candles particularly meaningful is that their scents were inspired by the birthdays of Meghan and Prince Harry’s two children Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie adding a personal layer to what might otherwise have been a simple brand send.
Jenner accompanied her Instagram Stories post with an enthusiastic caption expressing gratitude for the gifts and wishing her followers a happy Mother’s Day. The handwritten card, which was visible in the post, opened with a warm note honoring Jenner as a maternal figure a touching acknowledgment from the duchess to a woman who has built her public identity around family.
The backstory: Photogate explained
The public display of goodwill carries added significance given the drama that unfolded late last year. In November 2025, Jenner celebrated her 70th birthday at a James Bond themed party held at the Beverly Hills mansion of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos. The evening drew a roster of high profile guests that included Oprah Winfrey, Mariah Carey, Tyler Perry, Vin Diesel, Mark Zuckerberg, Adele and Rich Paul, among others.
Meghan and Harry attended the celebration, and photos from the night including images of the couple posing with both Jenner and Kim Kardashian were initially shared to social media. However, those images were quietly removed shortly after posting, which set off a wave of speculation online about whether a rift had developed between the Kardashian Jenner family and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Meghan and Harry arrived together looking happy and at ease. Meghan wore a black wrap style dress suited to the evening’s theme, while Harry wore a tuxedo and a poppy a symbol of remembrance for fallen armed forces members observed across the U.K. and Commonwealth around Nov. 11. The couple also attended the Baby2Baby charity gala that same evening.
Their presence at a glamorous party on the eve of Remembrance Sunday considered the most solemn date on the royal calendar drew criticism from some quarters.
Kim Kardashian clears the air
The mystery behind the deleted photos was addressed in January when Kim Kardashian appeared on her sister Khloé Kardashian’s podcast, Khloé in Wonder Land. Kim explained that the situation was far less dramatic than the internet had made it out to be, noting that her mother and Meghan have maintained a genuine friendship over the years.
According to Kim, the photos were initially approved and shared without issue. It was only afterward that someone in their circle realized the timing coincided with Remembrance Day, and the decision was made to pull the images out of respect for the occasion not because of any personal falling out.
Kim acknowledged that while the couple’s attendance at the Baby2Baby gala that same night was unproblematic, the optics of being seen celebrating at a party felt different. The photos came down, the moment passed, and as this week’s Mother’s Day exchange makes clear the friendship between Meghan and Jenner carried right on.
