Tyler Huntley and a night in Atlanta

On the eve of the game, the Baltimore coach delivered a simple message. No locker room in the league, he told his players, trusts its backup quarterback more than this one.

By the end of Sunday night in Atlanta, Tyler Huntley had given everyone in that room even more reason to believe.

How did Tyler Huntley lead the comeback?

The Ravens beat the Atlanta Falcons 30 to 23 in overtime on Oct. 11, 2026, and their backup quarterback was the reason. Over the final two drives, Huntley completed all 11 of his passes for 80 yards.

Baltimore trailed by eight points late in the fourth quarter. With 40 seconds left in regulation, Huntley found wide receiver Devontez Walker for a touchdown of 7 yards. Running back Derrick Henry then converted the try for two points to tie the game.

In overtime, Huntley kept the chains moving with third down completions to Mark Andrews and Zay Flowers. He finished the job himself, pushing across the goal line on a quarterback sneak from a yard out.

The march covered 14 plays and stood as the longest overtime touchdown drive in the NFL in eight years.

Why was Lamar Jackson out?

Jackson, who has won the league’s MVP award twice, missed the game with a sprained left ankle. Baltimore has not offered a timetable for his return.

Jackson still made his presence felt. He spent the night clapping and shouting encouragement from the sideline, and the backup later credited him with sharing what he saw from the field as a key boost.

What changed for Tyler Huntley after halftime?

The first half was shaky. Tyler Huntley looked hesitant and completed 11 of 18 passes for 97 yards.

After the break, he was nearly flawless. He hit 13 of his final 14 throws for 104 yards and two touchdown passes, growing more confident as the stakes rose.

The Ravens coach praised that steadiness, describing Tyler Huntley as someone who rarely gets rattled and keeps the same calm demeanor no matter the moment.

The rally also made history for the franchise. The comeback of eight points in the fourth quarter was the largest by Baltimore in a game Jackson did not start in 11 years.

Why do the Ravens trust Tyler Huntley so much?

His track record explains the faith. Tyler Huntley helped deliver two of the team’s biggest wins last season, beating two playoff teams in the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers.

In the win over Green Bay, he completed 16 of 20 passes for 107 yards and a touchdown in a 41 to 24 rout. A veteran teammate spent the week urging his quarterback to channel that version of himself, then joked afterward that the new performance had replaced the old one.

Sunday marked his third straight start in place of Jackson, and teammates say he leads like a starter. Several said nobody in the locker room doubted him, even with Baltimore listed as an underdog for the first time this season.

Huntley brushed off the doubters. He said every day feels like beating the odds, and that he cares more about delivering wins for his teammates and the organization than about outside noise.

What comes next for the Ravens?

The victory lifted Baltimore to four wins and one loss, its best start in five years, and gave the team a lead of one game atop the AFC North. Baltimore has now won seven of the 18 games Jackson has missed, and Huntley started six of those wins.

If Jackson remains sidelined, Tyler Huntley could start again Sunday at Cleveland. After this performance, few in Baltimore seem worried.
