Zendaya shares why she refuses to confirm or deny her rumored marriage to Tom Holland

Zendaya has offered her most candid explanation yet for why she has chosen to say nothing about the widespread speculation that she and Tom Holland are already married. In a culture that demands constant disclosure from its biggest stars, her reasoning is as thoughtful as it is deliberate.

The conversation came during a recent podcast appearance alongside her The Drama co-star Robert Pattinson. Speaking openly for one of the first times about the rumors that have followed her and Holland for months, the 29-year-old actress acknowledged the public’s deep emotional investment in her relationship while making clear that some things are simply not up for discussion.

Privacy as an act of protection

Zendaya was careful not to come across as dismissive. She acknowledged that she and Holland have both grown up in the public eye and that their on-screen chemistry in multiple films has given audiences a sense of closeness with their real-life romance. She said she genuinely understands why people feel invested.

At the same time, she described herself as a deeply private person who is actively working to preserve certain parts of her life for herself and for Holland. Her approach is less about secrecy and more about intentionality. She is not hiding a relationship from the world so much as choosing which parts of it belong to her alone.

She described trying to maintain joy within their inner circle rather than allowing it to be absorbed by public consumption. The idea of protecting something precisely because it matters is central to how she has navigated fame at the highest level.

The balance she is still finding

Zendaya said she is aware of the gossip and does not claim to be above it. Instead she described carving out personal boundaries around what she is willing to discuss publicly while remaining open in other areas. Finding that middle ground, she suggested, is an ongoing process rather than a fixed position.

The marriage speculation intensified after Zendaya’s longtime stylist Law Roach commented at the 2026 Actor Awards that the couple had already wed. Neither Zendaya nor Holland has confirmed or denied the claim since, and she has been photographed on several occasions wearing what appears to be a wedding band.

From audition to a life built together

Zendaya and Holland first crossed paths while auditioning for Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017, the film in which they would go on to play love interests Peter Parker and MJ. She recalled feeling nervous going into the audition but said his warmth and ease put her at ease almost immediately.

The couple dated for four years before getting engaged in 2025. Zendaya described the feeling of calm she experiences around Holland as the clearest sign she had found the right person. She said that sense of peace, rather than any grand romantic gesture, was what told her he was the one.

She noted that she actually feels more unsettled when he is not around than when he is, a quiet but telling detail about how central he has become to her everyday sense of stability.

For a celebrity of Zendaya’s stature, choosing what to share and what to hold back is itself a kind of art form. Her willingness to explain the why behind her silence, without actually breaking it, may be the most revealing thing she has said about her relationship yet.
