Google finalized its acquisition of Wiz on March 11, bringing the New York-based cloud and AI security platform into Google Cloud nearly a year after the deal was first announced. Wiz will retain its brand and continue operating as a multicloud security platform, supporting customers across Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and Oracle Cloud. The deal, which closed after roughly 12 months of regulatory review, positions Google Cloud to offer what both companies describe as a unified security platform built for the AI era. The combined offering will bring together Wiz’s cloud and code security capabilities with…
The partial government shutdown that began Feb. 14 has pushed absenteeism among Transportation Security Administration officers to levels that are straining checkpoint operations at airports across the country, according to internal TSA data obtained by CBS News. The agency has also recorded more than 300 employee departures since the funding lapse began, a number that raises concerns about longer-term staffing stability. Roughly 50,000 TSA employees have been required to work without pay since DHS funding lapsed. The nationwide unscheduled absence rate climbed to an average of 6% during the shutdown, compared with roughly 2% before funding expired. The highest single-day…

Nvidia announced Today that it will invest $2 billion in Nebius Group, the Amsterdam-based AI cloud company listed on Nasdaq, sending Nebius shares up roughly 14% on the news. The deal deepens a relationship that was already underway and signals how aggressively Nvidia is moving to anchor itself across the AI infrastructure landscape. The investment is not simply a financial stake. Under the terms of the partnership, Nvidia will collaborate with Nebius on AI factory design, inference and agentic AI software, fleet management, and the deployment of multiple generations of Nvidia hardware, including the forthcoming Rubin platform, Vera CPUs, and…
Viola Davis has spent decades earning the kind of credits that stop a conversation — an Oscar, an Emmy, a Grammy, a Tony. Now she is adding one more. The EGOT-winning actress has co-written her debut novel, Judge Stone, alongside bestselling author James Patterson, and says the collaboration came together the way most meaningful things do: unexpectedly. Davis, who describes herself as a committed homebody and self-professed introvert, told CBS News she was not looking for a writing partner so much as she found one. The two could not be more different on paper. Patterson is the most commercially successful…
Naomi Osaka had not played a competitive match since January, when a recurring abdominal injury forced her out of the Australian Open ahead of a third-round match she had been expected to play. The withdrawal stung. She had been through this before, and that familiarity made it worse. On Friday night at Stadium 1 of the BNP Paribas Open, she made her return. And she did not arrive quietly. Osaka walks in dressed for the hunt Before a single ball was struck, there was the outfit. Head to toe in a leopard-inspired ensemble built by Nike, Osaka wore a color-shifting…
President Donald Trump criticized the United Kingdom Today for what he described as a belated show of military support, posting on Truth Social after the British Ministry of Defence announced that the HMS Prince of Wales aircraft carrier had been placed on an increased state of readiness for possible deployment to the Middle East. Trump addressed Prime Minister Keir Starmer directly, warning that the United States would not forget the timing of the offer. Trump framed the British gesture as coming too late to matter, suggesting the US had already secured its position in the conflict with Iran without British…
Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is now in select cinemas ahead of its Netflix premiere on March 20, and the film delivers on the considerable weight of expectation that came with bringing the beloved franchise to the big screen. Written by creator Steven Knight and directed by Tom Harper, the film is set in November 1940 as Nazi Germany’s aerial campaign leaves Birmingham in ruins. Cillian Murphy returns to Peaky Blinders as Tommy Shelby, and the story picks up with a man who has withdrawn entirely from the world he once commanded. Tommy is a recluse living in isolation, unresponsive…
Iowa women’s basketball defeated Michigan 59-42 in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals on Friday, advancing to the championship game for the fifth time in the last six years. The Hawkeyes sealed the win with a 10-0 run midway through the fourth quarter that Michigan was unable to answer, capping a game in which the Wolverines were inconsistent for long stretches and never found a consistent offensive rhythm. Michigan scored just four points in the first quarter and six in the fourth, leaving the team with too much ground to make up despite a competitive third quarter in which the two…
Ye appeared in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom on Friday for testimony in a $1 million lawsuit filed by his former project manager, Tony Saxon, and spent much of his time on the stand yawning, closing his eyes for extended periods and at times appearing to nod off entirely. Saxon’s attorney Ron Zambrano reportedly turned to a colleague mid-questioning and mouthed a question about whether the rapper had fallen asleep, a moment that was noticed by the judge, who then asked the attorney to move through the questions at a faster pace. When Ye did respond to questions, his answers…
