Ice Spice has learned firsthand how closely scent and memory are linked, and her first fragrance reflects that connection.
The 26 year old rapper, known for hits including “Pretty Privilege,” spoke about the aromas that have shaped her life and the meaning behind her new venture into beauty.
A childhood scent becomes a signature note
Ice Spice recalled that her mother filled their home with vanilla scented products throughout her childhood, and that association has stuck with her ever since. She described vanilla as a scent she has been drawn to since infancy, noting that it leaves her feeling grounded which is why she chose it as the foundation for her new fragrance.
Beyond scent, Ice Spice’s mother, Charina Almanzar, has also influenced her sense of style. During a conversation with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, the rapper credited her mother with introducing her to a bold Y2K aesthetic long before it became a broader cultural trend. She pointed to specific style markers like acrylic nails, lower back tattoos and brown lip liner as hallmarks of the look her mother embraced, alongside internet culture, as major early influences on her own personal style.
The fragrance takes its name from a hit song
In Ha Mood, which hit shelves in August, borrows its title from one of Ice Spice‘s popular tracks. Alongside vanilla, the fragrance features a mix of floral notes, including plum blossom, rose and magnolia, creating a scent profile the rapper described as soft and feminine.
She connected the fragrance’s identity to the energy of the song that inspired it, explaining that both are meant to evoke a sense of self assurance. Just as the track functions as a confidence anthem for her, she said wearing the perfume gives her a similar feeling, making the two feel like natural companions.
Partnering with Revlon felt like a natural fit
Teaming up with Revlon for her first fragrance felt like an organic next step for Ice Spice rather than a stretch. She described the brand as one that felt instinctively right for this stage of her career, adding that Revlon has been a familiar and iconic name to her since childhood, which made the partnership especially meaningful when the opportunity arose.
The fragrance launch also represents a broader shift for the “Munch” hitmaker as she looks to build out her career beyond music. She expressed a desire to keep expanding professionally, saying she’s eager to see where new ventures take her as her career continues to evolve.
Music remains on the horizon
Even as she branches into beauty, Ice Spice made clear that music is still very much part of her plans. She revealed that she recently wrapped filming for a new music video, teasing that fans should expect a preview of new material soon.
The fragrance launch adds to a string of headline making moments for the rapper this year, from eye catching jewelry to luxury accessories that have kept her in the spotlight well beyond her music catalog. With In Ha Mood now on shelves and new music reportedly on the way, Ice Spice appears to be leaning further into her role as a multi hyphenate star, expanding her brand while keeping her artistic output front and center.
For now, fans eager for a preview of what’s next will have to wait for the newly teased video to drop, but the fragrance launch offers an early glimpse into how Ice Spice is translating her personal history and artistic identity into a tangible product, one rooted in scent memories that trace back to her earliest years.
