After more than four decades of shaping hip-hop and pop culture, Snoop Dogg is getting the biopic treatment. Universal Pictures has set the film, titled Snoop, for an Aug. 6, 2027, release, giving fans their first real look at how the rapper, entrepreneur and cultural fixture built his empire.
The project has reportedly been in development since 2024, taking shape not long after Snoop wrapped a run as a celebrity coach on NBC’s The Voice. Craig Brewer is directing, and Jonathan Daviss, known for his role on Outer Banks, has landed the lead. The film also carries extra significance as the first release under Death Row Pictures overall deal with NBCUniversal Entertainment, a partnership that came together after Snoop bought the legendary label in 2022.
