Latto has never been one to do things the expected way, and the rollout for her upcoming album Big Mama is proving exactly that. Rather than dropping a standard tracklist, the Clayton County rapper has been teasing featured artists through a series of Instagram collab posts that remix her signature cheetah-print branding with visual clues tied to each contributor. Fans have been decoding the hints in real time, and what they have uncovered so far has sparked a wide range of reactions online.

A dagger image pointed to 21 Savage. A red G-string left little doubt about Sexyy Red. Other posts hinted at Mariah The Scientist, Wizkid, Teyana Taylor, Odeal, and in perhaps the most talked-about reveal of the campaign, Jelly Roll.

A pregnancy reveal and a retirement warning

The Big Mama era began in March when Latto unveiled the album’s cover art, an image of her cradling a small cheetah while visibly pregnant. The announcement arrived alongside the music video for a powerful album intro, and the combination immediately set a dramatic tone for what was to come.

Weeks later, Latto added another layer of intrigue when she referred to Big Mama as her retirement album on social media, signing off with a heartfelt thank you to her supporters. The statement sent fans into a spiral of speculation and made the project feel like something larger than a typical album release.

Jelly Roll steals the conversation

Of all the feature reveals, none generated more noise than Jelly Roll’s inclusion. The Tennessee artist occupies a space in music that feels galaxies away from Latto’s world, and fans were quick to say so. Responses ranged from genuine bewilderment to sharp humor, with many questioning what a collaboration between the two could possibly sound like and others wondering aloud whether the pairing made any creative sense at all.

Still, not everyone pushed back. Several artists showed up in the comments of Latto’s Instagram posts to show support, among them G Herbo, Kehlani, JT, and Stefflon Don. Jelly Roll himself responded to his reveal with visible enthusiasm, describing the experience of being included as an honor and expressing pride in the record they made together.

Big Mama follows a strong 2024 run

Big Mama arrives as the follow-up to Sugar Honey Iced Tea, Latto’s 2024 project that leaned deep into her Atlanta roots and brought together a stacked cast including Megan Thee Stallion, Ciara, Coco Jones, Flo Milli, and Cardi B. The new album also comes on the heels of her GloRilla collaboration GOMF, which kept her momentum alive heading into this release cycle.

With Big Mama set to drop Friday, May 29, Latto is walking into what she has framed as her final statement with one of the more eclectic and unpredictable feature lists in recent memory. Whether fans fully understand every creative choice or not, the conversation alone has guaranteed that the album arrives with significant noise behind it.

If this is truly her farewell, Latto is making sure it goes out loud.
