Ways AIE is shaping Atlanta culture

Atlanta’s cultural footprint is getting a major spotlight as Atlanta Influences Everything expands into one of the busiest travel hubs in the world. The organization, widely known for championing the city’s creative identity, has officially launched a storefront at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport, marking a milestone moment for both the brand and the community it represents.

The opening signals more than a retail expansion. It reflects years of effort to position Atlanta’s influence at the center of global conversations around culture, fashion and entrepreneurship.

A decade-long vision comes to life

The new storefront is the result of a long-term partnership with the airport, nearly 10 years in the making. Located in Concourse B, the retail space brings a distinctly Atlanta perspective to a global audience passing through the airport each day.

What began as a phrase celebrating the city’s cultural reach has evolved into a physical presence in a high-traffic international setting. The store’s launch on April 22 represents the realization of a vision that has steadily gained momentum over the past decade, a curated Made in ATL experience. Inside the store, visitors will find a collection of apparel designed to reflect the essence of Atlanta. From graphic T-shirts to hoodies and hats, the merchandise centers on a  Made in ATL  identity that highlights local pride and creativity.

The project was developed in collaboration with Paradies Lagardère, a major player in airport retail. Together, they created a space that blends commerce with storytelling, allowing travelers to engage with Atlanta’s culture through fashion and design.

The store aims to give both residents and visitors a tangible connection to the city’s artistic energy.

Spotlight on Black entrepreneurship

For AIE’s leadership, the opening represents a broader statement about opportunity and visibility. The organization has long positioned itself as a platform for amplifying Black voices and businesses within the cultural landscape.

This latest move underscores the importance of access and representation in high profile spaces. By establishing a presence at a global airport,  AIE is helping to create new pathways for creatives and entrepreneurs who want to bring their work to a wider audience.

The initiative reflects a growing push to ensure that cultural influence is matched by economic opportunity, a high profile launch celebration. The debut of the storefront is being marked with a special event attended by civic leaders and members of the creative community. Among those expected to appear is Andre Dickens, who has been a vocal supporter of initiatives that highlight the city’s cultural contributions.

The event, scheduled for the afternoon of opening day, serves as both a celebration and a recognition of the years of planning behind the project. Organizers note that the launch is the result of careful strategy and collaboration, reflecting the scale and ambition of the effort.

Building a global cultural footprint

AIE’s expansion into the airport signals a shift from local influence to global presence. With millions of travelers passing through Hartsfield-Jackson each year, the storefront acts as a gateway for sharing Atlanta’s story with the world.

Founded by Tory Edwards, Bem Joiner and Ian Ford, the organization has played a central role in shaping how Atlanta is perceived culturally.  Its initiatives, including the widely recognized celebration known as 404 Day, have helped elevate the city’s identity on a national level.

Partnerships with major brands such as Coca Cola, Lululemon, Prudential Financial and Atlanta United FC have further expanded its reach.

Connecting Atlanta to the world

As the storefront opens its doors, it becomes more than a place to shop. It serves as a cultural touchpoint that introduces travelers to Atlanta’s creative spirit while reinforcing the city’s influence across industries.

For AIE, the move represents both a culmination and a beginning. The organization has established a permanent presence in a global space, while also setting the stage for future growth and innovation.

The launch highlights how local culture can resonate far beyond its origins, offering a reminder that Atlanta’s voice continues to shape conversations worldwide.
